The Urban Housing Practitioners Hub - UHPH, is an open platform for the exchange and dissemination of best practices and knowledge where stakeholders and practitioners can convene around the housing and the urban habitat in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The platform merges the digital space and networking that enables connections between practitioners and professionals from the housing and urban sector to access information and practical solutions in real-time.

The UHPH vision is to impact the quality and scale of housing practices and policies in the region and to contribute to the accomplishment and implementation of the New Urban AgendaAgenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals), in partnership with UN-Habitat. And to promote international frameworks for sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and adaptation and, disaster reduction.

Consolidated in October 2016 during the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development -Habitat III, powered and financed by Cities Alliance and Habitat for Humanity. The UHPH aims to consolidate as a

Regional Public Good (RPGs) through the strategic development program led by the Interamerican Union for Housing (UNIAPRAVI) currently is funded by the technical cooperation grant from the Interamerican Development Bank.UHPH promotes collaborative work through a governance scheme that includes an Executive Committee composed of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Habitat for Humanity (HFH), Cities Alliance (CA), and the Inter-American Housing Union (UNIAPRAVI).

Holds a Strategic Advisory Board installed with the presence of representatives of the housing and urban habitat authorities of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru; as well as Multilateral organizations such as UN-Habitat, IDB, World Bank, ECLAC, CAF, Minurvi; institutions like TECHO, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, GIZ, Alianza Smart Latam, Global Platform for the Right to the city, Caixa, Confederaçao Nacional de Municipios de Brasil; research networks like RHIVA and REDEUS.

    The Inter-American Housing Union groups public and private institutions involved in the financing, promotion, and regulation of housing and urban management across the Americas.

    Official Forum organizer. Habitat works to ensure that families have access to housing that allows them to gain the strength, stability and self-sufficiency required to build a better future.

  • ONU Habitat*

    Permanent guest of the Board. The United Nations Human Settlements Programme is the United Nations programme for human settlements and sustainable urban development.
